The Storyboard Project

In the Storyboard window you will create a storyboard sequence and save the sequence as a storyboard file (MSB) on your hard disk. In the Storyboard window you can insert and edit one layer of video. Audio files cannot be inserted or edited on the storyboard. If the inserted video file, however, was captured with an external WAV file or files, you will be able to select and hear 1 channel of audio during playback (see 5.8 Editing Audio in the Storyboard).

To playback your storyboard sequence you will use the Monitor window. When the Monitor window is in Preview mode (select View/Show Preview Monitor from Incite Media Assistant's main toolbar), a single screen is provided for previewing the Storyboard. Expanding the size of the Monitor window will also expand the size of the preview monitor.

If the Monitor window is in Logger mode (select View/Show Logger Monitor), then the Monitor will display two screens. The left monitor is for viewing a selected storyclip (double-click a storyclip to load it into this monitor), while the right monitor is for previewing your storyboard. The two monitors can also be used to view the Out and In frame of two clips being trimmed simultaneously (see Trimming In/Out Points with your Mouse in 5.7 Editing Tools).

Saving and Opening MSB Files

Each storyboard sequence you create should be considered as an independent project that can be saved as a specific file on your hard drive. The file extension for an Incite Media Assistant storyboard is MSB. To save the project, press the Save button in the upper left-hand corner of the Storyboard Window.

If you are saving the Storyboard project for the first time the Save dialog box appears, allowing you to assign a name and directory location for the storyboard. Afterwards, pressing the Save button will save any recent changes made.

If you wish to save a different version of the storyboard, use the Save As command. You will be able to assign a new name and/or location. The new version will remain as the active storyboard project (i.e. any saved changes will be applied to this new MSB file).

You can open MSB files using the Open command on the Save menu. An Open dialog box appears. Use this window to browse for the MSB file you wish to open.

Tips & Notes

·The name of the MSB file is displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the Storyboard window.

·File Folder Presets can be saved per storyboard project by activating the Save preset folders with storyboard option under the Catalog Display Preferences window.

·Only one MSB project (i.e. one Storyboard window) may be open at a time.
