Creating Compression Keyframes

Although setting keyframes is not a feature for all video codecs, when it is available, it can provide greater control and economy for file compression and decompression. Incite Media Assistant lets you select the occurrence of keyframes every given number of frames.

The number of keyframes you should use depends primarily on how much and how often pixel information is being changed over the surface of the video image. For example, if relatively little area of the image is being changed (e.g. the face of a speaker, where the background is relatively static) fewer keyframes will be needed to register pixel changes. But in video sequences where there is a lot of motion, pixel change is greater from frame to frame, so more keyframes will be needed for a higher quality image.
