Audio Options

You will use Audio Options under the audio tab to select how audio files will be treated for a specific or batch conversion session. There are more options for the AVI Converter than the QT Converter. These additional options will help you convert media files into usable formats for the entire Matrox DigiSuite boardset family (DigiSuite, DigiSuite LE and DigiSuite DTV). The Following is brief description of each option:

Convert Video Only
will convert only the video portion of the media file, excluding any audio streams or any external Wave files.

Convert Video and Audio will include audio streams when converting an audio/video media file.

Include Audio from External WAV Files will include all external Wave files associated to the video file being converted. External audio files use the same media file name with an added suffix to designate the track (.A1, .A2, .A3, .A4).

Extract Audio to 2 MONO WAV Files will extract any audio streams from the audio/video media file and convert them as individual mono Wave files. From one AVI file (with video and audio included) you will get 1 AVI (video only) and 2 mono audio files (A1 and A2). This option is especially useful when you wish to create audio files for use in DigiSuite and DigiSuite LE.

Extract Audio to 1 STEREO WAV File will extract any audio streams from the audio/video media file and convert them into Stereo Wave files. . From one AVI file (with video and audio included) you will get 1 AVI (video only) and 1 Stereo audio file (A1). This option is especially useful when you wish to create audio files for use in DigiSuite DTV.

Convert External Audio to MONO WAV Files will include external wave files in the conversion, creating up to four mono Wave files, linking the external files properly using the .A# suffix. This option is useful when converting DTV media to MJPEG. For example, 1 AVI file with two linked Stereo files (A1 and A3) in DV format will be converted to 1 AVI and 4 mono audio files (A1, A2, A3, A4).

Convert External Audio to STEREO WAV Files will include external wave files in the conversion, creating STEREO Wave files, linking the external files properly using the .A# suffix. This option is useful when converting MPJPEG to DTV media. For example, 1 AVI file with four linked mono files (A1, A2, A3, A4) in MJPEG format will be converted to 1 AVI and 2 Stereo audio files (A1 and A3) for DTV.

Tips & Notes

·Tip: Use the Show Related Files view option to check whether the AVI has external wave files linked to it. Instead, right clicking on a media file and selecting Show Clip Info, you can check whether or not audio is incorporated within the AVI itself (as an audio stream rather than a separate, external wave file) by looking at the Audio Stream heading.

·Tip: You can create related media files simply by changing the name of the file. In other words, if you change the name of an audio file to match the name of a video file and include a suffix (A1, A2, etc) you can include the audio file in the conversion.
