Audio Format and Audio Parameters

The AVI Converter and QuickTime Converter windows offer a dedicated Audio tab for selecting audio file conversion parameters and formats. Audio files can be converted either independently or in relation to video media files. When you convert a video media file, the related or incorporated audio files can also be included in the conversion, if you choose. To convert only an audio file, select the audio file from the Catalog List and launch the Convert Selected Wave command using the media file's right-click menu. In this case, however, audio format selection can be done in the AVI Converter only.

There are basically two different relationships audio can have with a video media file within Incite Media Assistant. Audio can either be considered as one or more streams of audio physically combined or incorporated within the AVI media file, or else it can be an "external" media file (Wave) linked to the video media file (AVI). In the case of the former, the audio must be considered as part of the AVI media file. In the later case, the audio media file (there may be up to four mono or 2 stereo audio channels linked to any given video file) can be treated independently. In addition, external wave files may be either mono or stereo files, which is important to consider when converting AVI MJPEG to DTV formats, and vice versa.

In the Audio tab you will be able to select whether a video file will be converted using its original audio stream or streams, manipulate external wave files, choose from standard PCM format parameters or else create and save new file format parameter settings in the Sound Selection dialog box.
