6.4 Importing TCI Files and Media into Incite

Importing TCI Files

One of the important tools for working with media files in the Catalog List, as discussed in 2.4 Working with Video, Audio and Graphic Media Files, is the command Edit Clip Info and TC. If the selected media file has a related TCI file, you can verify/modify tape and timecode information or enter comments for the TCI file. If the currently selected file does not have a TCI file, Incite will generate one after pressing the OK button to close the window.

TCI files that have been created or modified by Incite Media Assistant can easily be imported into Incite. To do this:

1. Open the clip collection in which you wish the new clips to be placed.

2. Right-click in the Collection window (or use the Element menu on Incite's main toolbar) and select Import/Media Information.

3. Browse for the TCI files you wish to import using the Media Information Import dialog box. Once selected, press Open.

4. An Import dialog box appears. Use this dialog box to select the directory for the new media files (if required). You can also choose to have the clips inserted as storyclips into the Incite storyboard, or else simply create clips for the currently open clip collection using the Insert Clips into Storyboard check box.

Importing New Media into Incite Projects

If Incite and Incite Media Assistant are installed on the same system, you can make use of another nice drag and drop importation feature. Use Incite Media Assistant to browse and preview your media files. Then, from the Catalog List, select the files you wish to open within an Incite project and drag them to an Incite clip collection or directly to an Incite storyboard.

·If you drag the media files to a clip collection, new Master Clips are created.
·If you drag the media files to an Incite storyboard, new Master Clips, clips and storyclips are created.

With this feature you can use Incite Media Assistant as an effective media file browser before inserting to an Incite project or using material on an Incite storyboard. Remember as well that you can increase the viewing area of the Catalog List using the Move Splitter buttons, giving you better visual control over your material.

Tips & Notes

·Media file formats that are not suitable for Incite will appear off-line. For example, if the frame size is less than the standard PAL or NTSC frame size.
