Incite's RealMedia (RM) Converter window is basically a direct interface to all of the parameters you need for converting files for streaming audio/video Web applications. This section will look at some of the key points, limitations and parameters to consider when converting your media into RealMedia format.
To begin with, you will need to have RealProducer Plus G2 installed on your system in order to access the RM Converter in Incite Media Assistant. The RM Converter basically provides you with the parameter settings RealProducer provides, but also includes certain customized features that help you interact with your media files (especially Incite Media files). In addition to RealProducer, you will want to install RealPlayer Plus G2, the media device that will let you view your RM files after they are created. RealMedia products can be purchased and downloaded from www.real.com.
When you open the RM converter window you will notice that there are two different tab options (in respect to the AVI and QT Converter utilities): Setup and Preview.
The Setup tab provides all of the parameters you will use for converting directly into RM format as well as options for making a temporary AVI file (which may be necessary considering some of RealMedia's limitations discussed below.
The Preview tab allows you to preview the progress of the RM conversion. The media file being converted is shown in the monitor on the left and the RM file being created is shown on the right. An LED display lets you verify the audio level (if audio is included in the conversion). Note that this is the only instance in which you will be able to view the RM file in Incite Media Assistant. After conversion you will need RealPlayer to view the file.
