To launch the Export HTML window press the Export HTML button located in the upper left-hand corner of the Catalog window. Using the Export HTML you will be able to define certain parameters that will affect the organization and interactive look of the HTML document.
Style
You can define what the contents of the page will be using the Style drop-down menu. You can choose: text, text and thumbnail images, Catalog, or thumbnail images only.
Using the Selected Only check box you can limit the number of files included in the HTML file. You can select the files in the Catalog List anytime before the exportation of the HTML (before pressing the Make button).
Next, you can create Document and Page headers. The document header appears on the first HTML page (index.htm) while page headers will appear on each page (Page1.htm, Page2.htm, etc.).
Table Size
The Table Size options let you determine the number of rows and columns that will be used. Primarily these options are used for limiting the number of files that are included per page. In other words the number of rows and/or columns is not dependent on the number of entries you are including in the HTML file, but the number of entries that will be shown per page. Page generation is automatic. For example, if you are exporting a folder that contains 12 media files, selecting Text style and limiting the number of rows to 3, Incite will generate 4 HTML pages with 3 media files each (and all interconnected with page number links).
Similarly, you could limit the number of columns or rows per page when working with Text and Images or Catalog. The difference is the HTML file will construct groups containing both text and images and lay the groups out in a table. For example, using Text and Images - Horizontal style, if you set columns to 2 and rows to 4, the HTML page will contain 4 rows containing 4 groups. Each group will have 2 media files (according to columns) and the corresponding text information.
Image Size
Image size lets you limit the width of the thumbnail image to be created for each media file included in the exportation of the HTML file. Entering the width parameter (in pixels), the height is automatically calculated in proportion.
Setting HTML Color Parameters
Whenever you generate an HTML page there are 5 optional color settings you can set for the page. The first determines the background color of the page itself, while the following four options establish the colors for text and hypertext. The Change buttons will launch a Color window from which you can select a standard color or create your own custom color.
The Make button generates the HTML file. In the upper left-hand corner of the Export HTML window a light-blue field appears indicating the progress of the exportation.
If you wish to have an immediate preview of the HTML file (or files) activate the Launch browser when finished check box. Your default browser will be loaded and the initial page (index.htm) for the file folder will be displayed.
The Close button closes the Export HTML window, hiding it from view. Your current settings will not be lost. To re-open the window, simply press the Export HTML button in the upper left-hand corner of the Catalog window.
Overwriting HTML files
There can only be one primary page per file folder (one index.htm page). Each time you press the Make button, the old index.htm page is overwritten with the new file. If you change parameters for the HTML document, for example including fewer files or altering the number of columns and rows, the number of pages generated may differ. Duplicated pages will be overwritten. Unduplicated pages will be left in the folder. They will not be accessible via links.
