Convert to AVI Options

As mentioned at the beginning of this section, sometimes it is better or even necessary to convert to another AVI format before converting to RM. The cases in which this should be done are:

1.Converting linked video and audio files (RealMedia does not support the conversion of "external audio files).
2.If you are working with de-interleaced field-based video files.
3.Converting 48kHz audio files.
4.You wish to include Color Correction.

Basically these options let you automatically convert selected media files into AVI and then RM formats. To do this, Incite Media Assistant uses the parameters in the AVI Converter to create a temporary AVI file. This file is then converted, using the parameters established in the RM Converter, into a RealMedia file.

The temporary AVI file uses the file name plus the extension "_RM.avi". For example myClip.avi becomes myClip_RM.avi. You can choose to keep or automatically delete this AVI file. Keeping the file means you can preview it in the Catalog List and/or redo the conversion into RM at a later date if necessary (without having to re-make the AVI).

The Do Not Use AVI Conversion option lets you convert directly into RM format.

The Always Use AVI Conversion will convert all files to AVI first, by default (any time you run the Convert to RM command, even when the RM window is closed).

Use AVI Conversion to Merge Video and External Audio is a useful feature, as it will automatically include external audio files in the conversion of the AVI.

Activating Delete Used AVI File after Completion will eliminate the temporary AVI file after the RM conversion is complete.

Tips & Notes

·To check the progress and details of the conversion use the Main and Details tabs in the respective Converter windows.

·Pressing Stop in the Main tab of AVI Converter will cancel the conversion of the file into RealMedia as well.
