Before you begin converting selected media files from the Catalog List, you may wish to indicate a new source folder for the media files Incite Media Assistant will create. By default, Incite Media Assistant will use the same media file folder where the original files are stored. You can change this default setting using the Files/Folders tab in the Converter window.
To do this, simply enter the full path directory into the Convert to Folder field located in the tab interface or press the Browse button to locate a certain directory folder. If you use the browse button, a Browse for Folder dialog box opens. Browse for the specific folder you wish to use and then press the OK button. Once selected, the path directory and folder name will appear in the Convert to Folder field.
When Incite Media Assistant converts selected media files, it will use the same name of the original clip plus any additional prefix and/or suffix you may wish to include. In a general way, prefixes and suffixes can be used to indicate what type of conversion was used. For example, you may have a group of twenty MJPEG media files you wish to convert into a DV format. In this case add a "DV" prefix or suffix for the group of files. Similarly, you may want to use a suffix or prefix indicating the FPS of the media file (for example: Intel_MyFile_15fps.avi). In this way, adding prefixes and suffixes helps you rapidly identify the media file and the intention or reason for the conversion.
If you do not specify a destination folder for the converted media files and a prefix and/or suffix, the new files will be created in the same folder as the original file using a logical, generic suffix (_1).
The Do not use automatic naming option lets you name files one by one. As each media file in the task list is loaded into the converter, you will be asked to assign a name and location for the new file being created with a standard Save As dialog box. This option is a convenient tool for controlling the conversion of a task list more closely. For automatic batch conversion in the "background", however, it is better to leave this option deactivated.
