As its name implies, the primary function of the Catalog window is to allow you the possibility of viewing and editing your media file inventory off-line. Using the Catalog window you can locate a specific media file folder and open up its contents within the Catalog List (you might think of it as a clip collection or viewing bin).
The media file folder can be anywhere on your hard disk, on your video server or on another editing station.
Once located, Incite Media Assistant can open all supported formats. In the case of video and audio files, you must also have the proper codec installed on your system.
In this chapter we will look at how you can browse your media file folders, preset specific folders, and set viewing options for media files.
We will examine some of the tools you have available for working with video, audio and graphic media files, methods for previewing your media and how the RTF fields can be used to add timecode and commentary in rich text format.
The last two sections will show you how to create printouts of media file information, as well as how to export the contents of a media file folder in HTML.
