1.2 The Catalog Window

The Catalog window is where you will do most of your media management within Incite Media Assistant. Using an Explorer-like interface, you can easily browse your system, server and network, locate media file folders and open them. Once a folder is selected, the media files are loaded into the Catalog List (a special, interactive area for viewing your media files). Video, audio and graphic files can be previewed. From the Catalog List you can select a single media file, a group of files or entire folders for batch conversion into AVI, QuickTime or RealMedia formats. You can also access the captured material's Timecode Information file or create this kind of file for material without timecode (see Appendix: About TCI Files for more).

There is a special Search mode which will locate and display media files containing a specific word or phrase.

The Catalog window also provides a Preview/Logger monitor for viewing a particular clip, selecting log points and entering comments in Rich Text Format. Clips can be inserted to the timeline of the Storyboard window directly from this preview monitor. If you wish, you can launch additional logging windows to work with more than one media file at a time.
